Buses replace trains between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Carstairs from Saturday 29 to Monday 1 May

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Carstairs, closing all lines.

CrossCountry services will be diverted via an alternative route, not calling at Motherwell.

ScotRail services will be replaced by buses between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Carstairs.

Virgin Trains East Coast - On Sunday the 16:30 London Kings Cross to Glasgow Central will terminate at Edinburgh. A rail replacement bus service will run from Edinburgh to Motherwell.

As a consequence of this engineering work, the following will also apply: 

On Monday, the 06:50 Glasgow Central to London Kings Cross will start from Edinburgh at 08:00. The 15:30 London Kings Cross to Glasgow Central will terminate at Edinburgh.

On Tuesday, the 06:50 Glasgow Central to London Kings Cross will start from Edinburgh at 08:00.

Amended service between York and Darlington / Eaglescliffe from 17:00 on Saturday 29 and all day on Sunday 30 April

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work at Thirsk, closing some lines.

Customer Advice:

CrossCountry

From 20:30 until the end of service on Saturday, CrossCountry services will be replaced by buses between York and Darlington.

On Sunday, services will run as normal between these stations.

Grand Central

On Saturday, the last service from London Kings Cross to Sunderland will be the 16:47. This train will not call at Thirsk. Connecting buses will run between Thirsk and Northallerton.

An additional service will run from York to Sunderland at 19:25.

The 19:11 London Kings Cross to Sunderland service will terminate at York.

On Sunday, the 09:48, 13:48, 16:47 and 18:22 London Kings Cross to Sunderland services will not call at Thirsk. Connecting buses will run between Thirsk and Northallerton.

TransPennine Express

An amended service will run between York and Newcastle / Middlesbrough. Some services will be replaced by buses between these stations and some services will not call at Thirsk. Connecting bus services will run between Thirsk and Northallerton.

Virgin Trains East Coast

From 20:00 Saturday until 10:00 Sunday, buses will replace trains between York and Darlington.
