T-Total (Dry) Train between Aberdeen/Dundee and Dundee/Aberdeen on Sunday 2 August

Due to a sporting event taking place in Dundee on Sunday 2 August 2015, Virgin Trains East Coast will be operating a ‘dry train’ policy so taking or attempting to take alcohol, or consuming alcohol on board our services advertised as T-Total Trains, will be deemed an offence and a breach of Railway Byelaws.

The restriction will apply between Aberdeen/Dundee and Dundee/Aberdeen only on the following Virgin Trains East Coast services:


0947 Aberdeen to Kings Cross (arrives Dundee 11:00)
1147 Aberdeen to Kings Cross (arrives Dundee 13:00)
1347 Aberdeen to Kings Cross (arrives Dundee 15:00)


1400 Kings Cross to Aberdeen (departs Dundee 19:52)

Virgin Trains East Coast have prohibited the possession of intoxicating liquor from the above mentioned train services on Sunday 2 August 2015. This means that alcohol cannot be brought onto or purchased on board our trains and customers may be searched before boarding.

It is an offence under Byelaw 4(2) of the Railway Byelaws, for any person travelling on the services listed above to be in possession of intoxicating liquor or to attempt to enter any of the above trains with intoxicating liquor.

These changes are reflected in the timetables when planning your journey or booking your ticket using the online booking engine.

Amended service in the Doncaster station area until 10:00 on Sunday 2 August

Engineering work is taking place in the Doncaster station area with some lines closed.

08:00 York to London Kings Cross will depart at 07:55.

08:05 Leeds to London Kings Cross will depart at 08:02.

08:45 Sheffield to Scarborough will be diverted and not call at Thorne North and Goole, a bus will run from Doncaster to Gilberdyke connecting with the train.

09:07 Doncaster to Goole, bus replaces train throughout.
