Amended service to and from London Kings Cross / Moorgate from Saturday 28 to Monday 30 May

Major engineering work is taking place between London Kings Cross / Moorgate and Potters Bar / Gordon Hill closing some lines. Read more about this engineering work and why it is necessary.

Grand Central

On Saturday & Sunday a reduced service will run to an amended timetable. On Monday the 08:02 London Kings Cross to Sunderland will not run.

Great Northern

Saturday & Sunday

A significantly reduced London-Cambridge train service will run.

A significantly reduced Peterborough-London train service will run.

Trains will run Stevenage-Gordon Hill on the Hertford Loop with buses running all stations Gordon Hill-Alexandra Palace-Turnpike Lane (London Underground station for the Piccadilly line to and from central London).

Buses will replace trains between Potters Bar and Finsbury Park on the Welwyn route.

There are no trains between Finsbury Park and Moorgate and no services at Hornsey or Harringay. Passengers may use London buses between Hornsey / Harringay and Finsbury Park, and between Finsbury Park and Essex Road until midnight on both Saturday and Sunday.

Monday

A revised train service will run on all routes with buses between Gordon Hill and Turnpike Lane (London Underground station for the Piccadilly line to and from central London).

Welwyn services will run into London Kings Cross with no trains between Finsbury Park and Moorgate. 

Passengers will be able to use Great Northern tickets on appropriate London Underground and local bus routes as follows:

• The Piccadilly line for travel between Bounds Green, Wood Green, Turnpike Lane, Finsbury Park and Kings Cross stations
• The Northern line between High Barnet and Kings Cross
• London Buses between Alexandra Palace, Hornsey, Harringay, Finsbury Park and Moorgate/Kings Cross - routes 4 29 43 100 205 217 and W3.

Hull Trains

On Saturday & Sunday a reduced service will run to an amended timetable.

Virgin Trains East Coast

On Saturday & Sunday trains to London Kings Cross will arrive approximately 40 minutes later, trains from London Kings Cross will start approximately 15 minutes earlier with normal times from Stevenage. Some trains will terminate at Doncaster, Retford, Newark North Gate, Grantham or Peterborough, passengers should use alternative trains for stations to and from London Kings Cross.

19:00 from Edinburgh to Doncaster will be a T-Total train

The 19:00 service from Edinburgh to Doncaster, Saturdays only, will be an alcohol free train. You will not be able to bring alcohol in any form, onto the train, or consume it whilst on board. This policy has been put in place to ensure that all of our customers can enjoy a more pleasant journey.

Virgin Trains East Coast have prohibited the possession of intoxicating liquor from the above mentioned train service.

It is an offence under Byelaw 4(2) of the Railway Byelaws, for any person travelling on the services listed above to be in possession of intoxicating liquor or to attempt to enter any of the above trains with intoxicating liquor.

T-Total Trains on Saturday 28th May - All services from Kings Cross calling at Hull or Doncaster from 19:58

T-Total (Dry) Trains are implemented by Virgin Trains East Coast as a measure intended to improve the experience of all our customers by reducing the likelihood of Anti Social Behaviour occurring on board our trains. Taking or attempting to take alcohol, or consuming alcohol on board services advertised as T-Total Trains, will be deemed an offence and a breach of Railway Byelaws.


Due to sporting events taking place in London, the services below will be designated as T-Total Trains.

The alcohol restriction will apply between Kings Cross and Hull or Doncaster only on the following services:

19:58 Kings Cross to Newcastle
20:20 Kings Cross to Leeds
21:23 Kings Cross to Hull
21:56 Kings Cross to Leeds
