Keep the peace
If want to catch up with work, read, or have a doze, you’re more than welcome in our quiet coach.
You’ll find our havens of peace in coach B in Standard and coach K or J in First Class.
If you’re in the quiet coach, the idea is to keep the noise down. Mobile calls and noise from electronic devices are forbidden (now's not the time to review your ringtone collection!), and conversations should be conducted quietly. If you do have to make or take a call, please move into the vestibules before dialling or answering.
Oh, and a quick heads-up: there are no electrical sockets available in the Quiet Coach on our direct service to and from Inverness, Aberdeen and London. That's a long way to go on a flat battery.
First Class changes - we've been listening
We value your opinions, and you told us that you love the chilled-out vibes in First Class - but only 9% of people said they appreciate the First Class Quiet Coach. So, across all services from the 20 May 2018, First Class will no longer have its quiet coaches. This will give you more flexible space and greater freedom.
But fear not lovers of the chill - First Class will remain an oasis of calm, as will our Standard quiet coaches.
Please note that any reservations made now for First Class travel on our trains after 20 May 2018 will be for seats in non-Quiet Coaches.
