Changes to advance bookings between May and December 2018
Network Rail has advised that there will be a delay in publishing timetables for certain dates between May and December. Although most Virgin Trains East Coast services will be unaffected, it means we may not be able to offer bookings as early as usual for some routes and dates.
What services will be affected?
Weekday services between May and December will be largely unaffected. For a very small number of late evening/early morning services, you may not be able to book more than 4-6 weeks before travel.
Engineering works will be carried out over some weekends on our routes, and you may not be able to book more than 4-6 weeks before travel for certain dates and journeys.
The affected dates are:
- Sunday 3 June
- Saturday 22 September
- Saturday 29 September & Sunday 30 September
- Saturday 6 October & Sunday 7 October
- Saturday 13 October
- Saturday 10 November
- Saturday 17 November & Sunday 18 November
- Saturday 24 November & Sunday 25 November
- Saturday 1 December & Sunday 2 December
What if I need to book in advance for these dates?
We’re sorry for any inconvenience these changes will cause, and we’ll do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum.
If you do book on a train that is cancelled, delayed, or where your seat reservation will not be available, we’ll provide a full refund.
If you buy a ticket for a service affected by the changes and then at a later date advance tickets are made available which for a cheaper fare, you should book the Advance fare for that service and then request a fee-free refund on your original ticket.
